Breadcrumbs issue with blog element

Hi there,
I have a solution that I would use if I would use breadcrumbs... ;)

\+++++++
- In my tests I have a category for articles "Legal Category", 2 articles in there.
- add an new article in that same category --> toggle the article as "Featured"
- edit the article --> insert a blog-addon per pbck --> set article source to this same category and set "Featured Articles" to "Hide"

Now the Menu-Link: B)
--> new menu item in main menu, choosing a joomla Category Blog, and link to the same category --> in tab "Blog Layout" make sure to set "Featured Articles" to "Only" !
+++++++/

And now thought from the beginning:
The menu link opens a joomla blog but only the Featured Article that loads a ck blog but the ck blog hides from him self loading...

Here to look:
It's on my testserver, I let it open for a while. (24 hours?)

Legal Blog ck
*** Link removed

I have NO menu items for the articles!
All articles "stored" in that category will display in blog, and mind the nicer url in browser...
It's NOT possilble to manipulate the breadcrums path (yes you can suppress categories by core hack, but it makes no sense at all)

Mind the same articles(copies) opened from a menu link as an article loading the ck blog
here:
Raw ck blog (our starting position)
*** Link removed

Donc, pour moi, le problème serait résolu. :P

Heino

HI CEd

I don't know if it is a problem in Joomla 4. The site I want to do it on cannot upgrade to 4 yet and it is a problem if you use the page builder blog element.

Can you please put this on your roadmap to fix. There is definitely a problem on the front end

Please see the screenshot. The breadcrumbs have the extra link Blog in there and it shouldn't be there

thanks

Merci pour les remerciements ;)

Jacqui, if you want I could make a try to the settings on your J3 testserver,
then send me a login.

For a update to J4 I would work with the real content, but NOT on an running live website
A complete copy of folders, files and database from main server website onto your "blueprintj3" space.
So you are working on the real object, but not on the working live site.

Then update (may be it needs 3,4,5 attempts till success)
If update of this copy is managed you can start to make the site nice again.
(maybe it takes a few weeks or months and therefore you don't want to do that twice.)

If the site runs on the "blueprintj3"-server correct,
then folders, files and database ready to transfer back to the main server for live site.

You are absolutely right to want the right behavior of the stuff.
But in the end you have to make it work, no matter what Joomla + CK pretend.
You can not program away all contingencies.
One always has specialties in a website,
and sometimes it only needs a little trick. (that took a hole week to discover*** :))

I don't know whether there will/can be a fix at CK for that "Blog" problem...

But I know there is only to make a setting of a single menu item for call a "blog in a blog"
once created, there is nothing more to do with it. If it works, it works.

If I can help, tell me.

*** I also have something from it!
I now know how to get around the long links without a menu item, great! B)

Much success!

Heino
