Problems on version 1.1.1 PRO was created by stavros
I downloaded the latest free version of 1.1.1 and it looked good except that its canonical tag appears in addition to Joomla's own Canonical tag plugin (System - SEF). Automatically adding canonical tags is a feature of the Pro version. Therefore I purchased a PRO 1.1.1 version.
Unfortunately the PRO version proved disappointing for the following reasons:
1. It does not display a canonical tag for the root page.
2. In all its canonical urls, the ?lang=* is automatically added at the end.
3. For custom canonical urls, if both options of "Article" and "Menu Items" are set to "On", then the custom canonical urls in menu items are ignored. The "Article" option has to be set to "Off". The "Category" and the "Tag" options don't seem to have the same negative effect, if set to "On".
So far Joomla's own canonical tags plugin (system - SEF) remains better but far from optimal.
I hope the above stated problems (especially the first and second) are resolved in a new version so it can become an optimal solution for canonical tags.

Hi
I'm looking for your request
1. this is the root of your domain and it does not require any canonical tag because this is the most relevant page in any case
2. + 3. I will check that in my plugin and I will let you know
you need to understand what is the purpose of the canonical page : it tells the search engine what is the relevant page in case of duplicate content. Example :
DOMAIN/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=20
>> this is an url that exists for any of your articles, but does not include the sef url. This page exists but you don't want it to be indexed by the search engine
instead you want to rely on this page (which is the same, but with the correct url, just as an example)
DOMAIN/categories/2-uncategorised/20-test-article
so in fact in the page
DOMAIN/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=20
you must have the canonical tag that points to
DOMAIN/categories/2-uncategorised/20-test-article
>> this is what Custom Canonical CK do
this is NOT what does the SEF plugin from Joomla. It only add the canonical tag to the page itself, so in this case it adds
DOMAIN/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=20
and this is false ! this is not the relevant page

Much, much better!
Still I need to have a canonical tag in the root page.
I have to adhere to the rules of the SEO company which the customers have hired, and they demand canonical tags everywhere.
I google searched for reasons of the root pages no needing a canonical tag, so I can argue back with the SEO people, but I only found responses that it is important to have canonical tags in the root pages.
Can you add a selectable option for those, like me, who want to have a canonical tag in the root page too?
