Yes, that looks nice.

But, as with using UP there's a lot of unnecessary overhead on the site. Especially when this effect can be achieved with very few lines of code. In fact I tried one on Codepen that only had about 20 lines of code in total. But it didn't work with swipe on mobiles, so no use.

As well as this, slider is only in the pro package, and the slider is quiet expensive on a per site basis.

you can do as you want ;
I use smartslider, and all the joomlack tools, with pro version.
Because :
- it is my job
- there are very pro features
- they make me save time, so save money in the long time.
- my customers do not know how to code
Of course you can use coding, that is a choice
