I think you mean the Xmap plugin for j! 1.5, right? 
I installed that one and the installation functioned. The result after activating is... a bit strange: On the first and the last entry with two lines the "||" are eleminatet but not on the following ones.
EDIT: Sorry, don't mean the following ones. I mean the ones inbetween.

the problem is that I don't have the time to install a xmap and test now on joomla 2.5 
I'm busy because of other problems, so you should try to use the "str_replace" PHP function to replace "||" with " " into the plugin
