Yes, it does work with the beez-20 or the atomic template from joomla, but I can still see the folder /mod_maximenuck being created in the cache folder even if I disable the cache in the module.

When I switched to yootheme nano2, the background disappears again.Maybe a conflict with the theme?

for sure, the theme has its own cache system that may cause this issue. That's why I don't have this problem by my side ...

Ok, I thought the theme was only doing the compression of the css and the js files which I have disabled, the caching is handled by joomla itself.

Can you tell me though why the module is being cached although I specify No Cashing in the backend?

I use exactly the same code as the standard joomla menu module to manage the cache. So this is how joomla works ...
