you can have a flat submenu even if you are using a vertical menu. Just use the "stop dropdown" option instead of the "fullwidth" layout

there is no obligation to create the columns... by default a submenu is horizontal with 1 column

i need a view like on picture1 and i achieved this by creating three columns.
Without columns it's like on picture2.

for your answer : no. Your pic1 shows clearly that you need the columns. the pic2 shows 1 column. Do you see what I mean ?
