The issue is fixed now. I discussed it with the SimpleQuiz developer Christopher Mavros and he has provided the following information:
In SimpleQuiz, some quizzes can be timed. I disable the browser's feature to stop the timer, and Slideshow CK obviously used the timer feature to animate the slideshow.
I have now changed the code to only do that when a timed quiz starts.
