How to update Slideshow CK V1 to V2

(version française, voir plus bas)

This is an opened thread related to all issues / questions / requests relative to the version 2 of Slideshow CK

You can start with reading the List of changes between the 2 versions
As described in this page, the Params addon does not exist anymore and has been replaced with the Pro version. This includes all additional plugins merged into one single version. Easier to maintain, no worries about the features that you need (everything is in it).

Please don't forget that many efforts have been made to make the most possible the Version 2 compatible with the Version 1 settings, but despite all tests and hours or work used to do that, for sure there are some possible issues and incompatibilities. I apologize in advance for that and ask you to friendly post your problem here to find a solution

First of all : Make a whole backup of your website (you shall do that for any update, but I prefer to mention that here)

Steps to update

1. Install the new version 2 over the existing (don't uninstall or you will loose all your modules)
2. Edit your module : you shall have a message that tells you that a previous version has been detected >> click it to update
3. Save your module to finish the update
4. Check in frontend if all is ok
5. If you have additional plugins like : slideshow ck params, the addons for Hikashop, Google, Flickr... you must disasble them (see List of plugins to disable)
6. If you have used the styling otions in the Version 1, you must recreated them in the version 2 (sorry for this). Go in the module options >> Options >> Style >> Edit (or select)
7. Once the pro version checked and working, you can uninstall the old Params

List of plugins to disable
After updating your module you must disable the old plugins :

• slideshowckparams (has features for Google Photos, Flickr, Articles, Folder)
• slideshowckhikashop
• slideshowckjoomgallery
• slideshowckk2
• slideshowckvirtuemart

WARNING : all these plugins are now part of the Pro version of Slideshow CK, because all paid options have been merged. Please use the Pro version if you need them. You can uninstall them completely if everything is working great with the Pro version after update


For urgency needs only :
In case of you really have big problems to solve quickly, you can still revert to the version 1 temporary
Install the V1 of the module over the existing to downgrade, then edit your module and save your settings again
Download the latest version 1.4.64 of the module
The Params is not altered by the installation of the V2, just check that it is enabled in your plugins
Note that this is only in case of emergency and you must not stay with an old version, for the security of your website and to avoid any coming issue with the most recent PHP/Joomla updates

Comme décrit dans ce document, le plugin Params a été remplacé par la version Pro. Toutes les fonctionnalités de Params et autres plugins additionnels ont été fusionnés dans la version Pro. Vous n'avez plus qu'une seule version à maintenir à jour, avec toutes les fonctionnalités incluses.

N'oubliez pas que de nombreux efforts ont été déployés pour rendre au mieux la version 2 compatible avec les paramètres de la version 1, mais malgré tous les tests et les heures et les travaux effectués à cette fin, il est certain que des problèmes et des incompatibilités existent. Je m'en excuse par avance et vous prie de bien vouloir poster votre problème ici pour trouver une solution.

Tout d’abord: faites une sauvegarde complète de votre site Web (vous le ferez pour toute mise à jour, mais je préfère le mentionner ici)

Étapes pour mettre à jour

1. Installez la nouvelle version 2 sur la version existante (ne désinstallez pas ou vous perdrez tous vos modules)
2. Modifiez votre module: vous aurez un message vous indiquant qu'une version précédente a été détectée >> cliquez dessus pour mettre à jour
3. Enregistrez votre module pour terminer la mise à jour
4. Vérifiez en front-end si tout va bien (attention d'après certains tests il se peut que la source de votre module ne soit pas sauvegardé, allez donc dans l'onglet Source >> sélectionner à nouveau la source)
5. Si vous avez des plugins supplémentaires tels que: slideshow ck params, les addons pour Hikashop, Google, Flickr ... vous devez les désactiver (voir Liste des plugins à désactiver).
6. Si vous avez utilisé les options de style dans la version 1, vous devez les recréer dans la version 2 (désolé pour cela). Allez dans les options du module >> Options >> Style >> Éditer (ou sélectionner)
7. Une fois la version Pro fonctionnelle, vous pouvez désinstaller les anciens Params

Liste des plugins à désactiver
Après la mise à jour de votre module, vous devez désactiver les anciens plugins:

• slideshowckparams (dispose de fonctionnalités pour Google Photos, Flickr, Articles, Dossier)
• slideshowckhikashop
• slideshowckjoomgallery
• slideshowckk2
• slideshowckvirtuemart

ATTENTION: tous ces plugins font maintenant partie de la version Pro de Slideshow CK, car toutes les options payantes ont été fusionnées. S'il vous plaît utiliser la version Pro si vous en avez besoin. Vous pouvez désinstaller ces plugins si tout fonctionne bien après la mise à jour de la Pro.


Pour les besoins urgents seulement:
Si vous avez vraiment de gros problèmes à résoudre rapidement, vous pouvez toujours revenir à la version 1 temporairement
Installez la V1 du module par-dessus l'existant, puis éditez votre module et enregistrez à nouveau vos paramètres
Téléchargez la dernière version 1.4.64 du module
Le Params n'est pas modifié par l'installation de la V2, vérifiez qu'il est activé dans vos plugins
Notez que ceci est uniquement en cas d'urgence et que vous ne devez pas rester avec une ancienne version, pour la sécurité de votre site web et pour éviter tout problème imminent avec les dernières mises à jour de PHP / Joomla.

Actually, slides were set to articles, but the module didn't take note of that until I have not opened all the slides (in source option), clicked on the article button (where articles were already linked), and saved once again the module.

En fait, les diapositives étaient définies sur articles, mais le module n'en a pris note que lorsque j'ai ouvert toutes les diapositives (option source), cliqué sur le bouton "article" (les articles étaient déjà liés) et enregistré de nouveau le module.

by my side I have a PHP warning, but the slideshow works

I'd have to reinstall the new version, should be during night time as the site is well visited.
