Bullets on Vertical Menu Sublevel Items

I'm sure I'm missing something painfully obvious, but is there a way to have sublevel items in a vertical menu display a bullet before each one, like this?

you can use a background image that represents the bullets, or use the custom css to add a list-type to your menu

Thanks. That raises another question, though. I understand how to use the custom.css file, and have used it on several sites.

But I keep wondering about the Custom CSS boxes in the Template Creator itself. No code I put there seems to do anything. Are those boxes operational? If so, how does one use them?

these boxes are only for the current selected block, for example to add a single css property like "text-shadow..."

So, is there something I could put in the Custom CSS box in the left Menu Container Sublevel that would accomplish this? Or do I need to do it by ftp in the custom css file?

use the expert mode >> css of the block >> menu >> item level 2 >> give it a background image
