CSS parameters not applying as expected

In the footer area (module position "copyright") I have applied no specific parameters in the template. Instead, I set text to #ffffff, with links to #f3ab1b, and hover to #ffffff. The copyright text is in a code block. However, the block is taking the body CSS and refuses to use the CSS assigned to the code block.

[strike]Also, the buttons are behaving strangely. On the same page, the button in the footer (next to the copyright) is working correctly. However, the one in the content area is getting some unexpected CSS - seems to be from bootstrap.
[/strike] Odd. I changed just the color of the text and border, and now buttons are working properly.

Am I doing something incorrectly? Never seen this sort of thing before.

I don't really understand as you say that it works now
but this could be due to a cache, if you have it enabled ?

The text in the footer is still displaying in the body color, whereas I have set it, in the code block as white. Similarly, the links show blue (like the footer area background) and yellow on hover. They should be yellow then white.
