500 errors

Have been experiencing multiple 500 errors when saving pages. Seems like it takes about 60 seconds or so for the page to reach the point where it might save or it might trigger a 500 error. I have increased the max processing time in php.ini with no effect. Also increased some other parameters as well. My apache error logs do not show anything. I have checked the .htaccess file and seems in order and my Joomla settings seem ok. Not sure if this is a timeout issue or what. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Digging into the page, I think I may have found a problem if not the problem. Found what looks like corruption in a text block on the page. I cleared it and rebuilt that part. The page now saves after edit with no 500 errors so far.
