Borders on buttons.

I added some borders (red) to buttons (mailto links) and everything worked well for a day. Now the page shows the link text and not as a button. Noticed also on another page that a couple of buttons I created do not show as buttons but just text. I also have a solid hover color and that does not show, just changes the text from red to black on hover.

Borders are showing and hover color is showing in the editor.

I cannot provide the url. It is behind my client's login and not available direct. And I cannot provide access credentials to it either. I can take a snapshot of the page and of the editor. I actually removed the current button and created a new one. Did not change the rendering on the live page. Same thing as above.

Sometime has elapsed since I started this topic. I discovered if I add an icon to the button, the borders, colors, etc render fine on the site. No reason to go further with this at this time. not sure why or what but this process is satisfactory for me.
