Welcome back Ced - hope you had a refreshing break!

I have further info on this problem. Joomla 3.6.2 BTW.

If I add a non-SEF URL as the link it gets truncated. However, if I add the SEF link (which is undesirable in case I rename the menu or turn SEF off) it works fine. So it definitely revolves around Joomla SEF which most people know is a little flaky at times.

A good landing is one you can walk away from.
A great landing is one where you can reuse the aircraft!
