thanks for reporting the problem
I have checked and it seems that the error comes from the inside of the JCE script

TypeError: ed.insertContent is not a function

ed.insertContent(v);
line 712 in
components/com_jce/editor/libraries/js/editor.min.js

the JCE script calls this function that does not exists ...
this shall be reported to the JCE developper

I will continue to check by my side if I can make it work in another way

you can try to download the 2.2.10 version again and install it like an update
I have updated the button plugin
