Mega Menu Problem was created by rscott7706
I have read all the documentation and searched the forum and cannot find a match to my problem.

I hope I am not bothering you with something already answered. I have a megamenu that I want two columns and in a list style. The first column starts with a text separator then links below - and it is perfect.

But the second to the right no matter how many times I have started fresh, or played with all settings, creates a flyout menu, not a list like the first.

The text separator also is bottom aligned and I want it top aligned. I am trying to get the exact look as joomla.org top menu "Community & Support". It has a three column, I only want two at this time.

Hoping someone can help with this situation. Thanks!! Here is a screen dump of my problem:

you have a problem in your menu settings, you have set a column + return to the line on each link

you must only do that :
- global configuration : create a column
- other item
- other item
...
- article options : create a column
- other item
- other item
...

ced1870:

Can I PM you with an administrative log on so you can look at my work?

I know I am doing something wrong, I know I will get past this learning curve.

I was able to solve the text separator position with your help. But the flyout problem still exists.

It seems no matter what I do, the first column never messes up - it is stable. Conversely no matter what I do, the second always has the flyout.

My menu settings right now:
"Configuration"
Make a column: No
Return to the line: No

Why? Because I want this to only be a link that contains two sub links, "Global Configuration" and "Article Options"

Next:
"Global Configuration" (I want as column 1 under "Configuration")
Make a column: Yes
Return to the line: Yes

Why? because I want this to be the first column under "Configuration" and I want sub links on one line to the next vertically.

Next:
"Article Options" (I want as column 2 under "Configuration")
Make a column: Yes
Return to the line: Yes

Why? because I want this to be the second column under "Configuration" and I want sub links on one line to the next vertically. I also want this to be to the right of "Global Configuration" and aligned to the top.

Next: (All "Global Configuration" links are working)

Next: "Article Options Lesson 1" and "Article Options Lesson 2"
Make a column: No
Return to the line: Yes

Why? because I want these columns to be sub links to "Article Options" and on one line to the next vertically. I also want this to be to these right of "Global Configuration" and aligned to the top.

I hope you keep patience with me, I will try not to bother you again.

do that, exactly :

"Global Configuration" (I want as column 1 under "Configuration")
Make a column: Yes
Return to the line: No

"Article Options" (I want as column 2 under "Configuration")
Make a column: Yes
Return to the line: No

you must not return to the line, else your columns will not be aligned !

then in your menu structure, if you want a flat layout for your submenu you have 2 choices :

1/ put all items on the same level2, like the one after ""Global Configuration", then no flyout as there is no submenu

or

2/ put them in level3 as submenus like under "Article Options" and go in the module options >> effect options >> stop dropdown = level2

the problem here is taht you have an inconsistent structure

- "Global Configuration" (level 2)
- lesson 6 (level 2)
- lesson 7 (level 2)
- lesson 8 (level 2)
- "Article Options" (level 2)
--- lesson 1 (level 3)
--- lesson 2 (level 3)
