Horizontal menu + vertical submenu navigation

Hi!

I designed a nice horizontal maximenu_ck navigation containing everything needed, but for the sake of being more user friendly I prefer to have a second navigation, which will be shown on the left div of my page, when someone chooses category with subitems from the horizontal menu. I've done it very easily with the standart joomla menu module, but the problem is that some items' titles contain codes - like [col=120] and they look ugly on the vertical navigation. Any ideas how to deal with the prob?

2 solutions
1/ use maximenu as second module and selec the alternative layout "native_joomla" in the advanced options
2/ use the plugin maximenu params to set the params in the menu options and don't use the [col...] parameters in the title

I would really do this if it was a commercial web site, but since I do it for a non-profit organization voluntarily I would save even a penny. I have to work it out and if no other method is possible, probably I will go without vertical menu.
