Columns in Joomla 2.5

I purchased the documentation for Joomla 1.5 and you helped me get everything exactly the way I wanted. Thanks!

Now I would like to use the maximenu for a Joomla 2.5 site, but it seems that setting [cols5] in the main item and dividing columns with a [col] separator between sub items is not the way to go in Joomla 2.5?

Should I buy the documentation for 2.5 as well, or am I maybe just missing something? Should it work the same way as before?
