Separator between main menu items

How do I place a separator image between each of the main menu items?

any help would be appreciated..

Solved... nearly..... Id like to have a separator before the first item as well as between all the other items... anyone know how I can achieve this?

I'm sure this can't be that difficult, but its got me... anyone have any ideas?

Still struggling with this.. maybe if anyone has some pointers as to where I should start hacking to try to get to a solution? Any help appreciated..

Hi Ced.. i have put in separators (like in the default theme) between each main menu item, but I'd like a leading separator too.. so th first item has a separator before it, as well as one after each item.. if you see what I mean.. so each item is bounded by 2 separators.
