please explain what is the problem for you, because by default the blue background does not exists

I'd hide white margin or resolve the problem in other way.. I set beez5 with blue text color.

have you used the plugin maximenu params to set the blue color, or have you set it via CSS ?

so you must apply the color to the <li> tag, not <a>
