CSS for Active Menu Item

Hello, how can I set custom CSS for an active menu item? I want to display it different.
I have the problem, that custom changes in the backend style component don´t appear.

are you using the Light version ? else you don't need the custom css, you can do it from the interface

Thanks for your response. Now I got it. Sorry for the confusion, but I had no "active" or "current" classes in my items. Maybe a cache problem. I dont know. Now its solved
