I use the || separator because you told me to do that 4 years ago by mail, in order to reduce the length of the bar menu of my website

yes this was the very first method, now this can be done using the interface

PS : anyway I have noted the problem, so I will check that in the next days. Until that you can hide the messages in your configuration >> server >> php report >> none

Effectively, it should be very simple now to custom the menu items wirh the editor, but these goodies are available only for the PRO vesion !
Because my websites are not commercial ones, I use the free Maximenu CK and appreciate it very much.
So, I'll wait until you can fix the problem and I have hidden the message doing like you explained.

No complex configuration or separators...
