Hi Cedric,

I have seen there are several posts in the forum about hiding menu item but I did not find any talking about the Joomla parameters that allow hiding them natively.

This new menu link parameter (attached screenshot) appeared sometimes ago, I can't tell you exactly which version introduced it as I did not notice it at the moment. It's working very well when using a normal joomla menu but I discovered a few days ago that it has absolutely no effect on maximenuCK.

I know of course that I can manage to hide menu using CSS but it's uneasy for customers that manage their website on their own and it means having a display none what is not the best thing.

The joomla parameter completely remove the item from the menu, meaning it does not appear in the page html at all, so I think it would be great to get it to work with Maximenu too.

Not sure it's very easy for you, so I would understand a negative answer :)

Hi
this is now implemented in the 8.1.12

just a stupid question : why to put a menu item if we don't want to show it ?
usually I do a fantom menu for such things, is this the same purpose ? for SEO ?

Hi Cedric,

I tested the new version and it's working very well, thank you !

As for the reason of hidding a menu rather than putting it in another menu that would not be displayed (I think that's what you mean by phantom menu ?), it is useful for exemple when we are asked to remove menu items (new fashion is shorter menu) but not pages on a website that's already referenced. This new feature allow us to do it without changing any url even if it's a submenu item. It's much easier to deal with as it will not generate any 404 or broken link. No need to redirect anything as pages keep their place on the tree B)

But I use it actually even when I need to hide an item from the beginning what I did before by putting it in a hidden menu. I like it because it avoids having one more menu just for that purpose with sometimes only one page in it.

Hope that answer your question. Have a nice day !
