Active menu stuck on wrong item

Recently the main menu on my site has started having the active menu item showing incorrectly. For example when on home it shows that the About page is active in the menu. This isn't always the case though. Sometimes other menu items are shown as active instead. This is the site:

I am not using external URL types in the menu. All of the menu items link to articles or to other components. Any idea what might be wrong? I am currently using:

Joomla 3.4.8
Maximenu 8.1.3
Params 4.1.0
Mobile 2.0.9

check if you have a cache enabled, try to disable it, and also check that the "base item" option is on current

Just in case it helps other people, I checked and the base item option in the module is set to current.

In order to fix the stuck menu item problem I did as you suggested and in the Maximenu CK module went to Advanced and set Caching to No Caching. This seems to have fixed the problem.
