can't change Maxi menu items text colors.

hello; I am having a problem setting the menu items text color. It stays gray instead of the color I pick. It appears OK in Maximenu Params, but the web site (localhost) only shows gray (#999). I investigated with Firebug and found line #2982 in bootstrap.css item ".nav-header" with a line "color: #999;". Removed this and corrected the problem. I have the versions / modules below installed.

The question is how to fix this permanently? and where?

just change your item type from "heading" to "separator"
