Need menu links centred vertically

Please could you give me some tips on how to get the menu links centred vertically.

As you can see the home image icon is centred perfectly but the menu links need to come further down.



I am sure in the past I went to the advanced tab within the menu module and adjusted the settings but this is having no effect whatsoever. That setting does not seem to be working because I tried switching the image position to middle-right and it stayed in the same place as before.

Typcial seconds after posting the above, I spot the image position has already been set within the Home menu item.

Hmmm... only partical success.

I am able to move the menu icon to either side of the text but the settings top-left, middle-left and bottom-left don't appear to make change the text relative to the home icon.

However I am wondering if the setting is assuming the icon is smaller than the test so it is controlling the image position relative to the text?
