may be you have not activated the option in the custom module to load the plugin on it. But anyway this is not related the slideshow module ...

True but knowing this solves the problem too.

I think I can use Article Anywhere to create a custom html module with slideshows next to eachother. With ArtAnyw it should be possible to place an article in html module.

Hm, didn't know there is an option for this. Will play with it.
