Making the image link to a custom link

Hi - I was wondering if there was a way when showing slides that are pulled from joomla articles to have the image link to the defined image link (intro or main image article)

Currently only the 'read_more' link works, and it links to the article but i want to use the slideshow to link to other pages of my own choosing.

I can see that in the default.php template file there is mention of the image link (?php if ($item->imglink) echo 'data-link="' . $item->imglink ) but i cannot see it rendered once loaded.

you can not combine this with the article autoload feature...
it will automatically link to the article. You shall create your slides manually then, and you can do what you want

Aww that's a shame (considering I should bought the extra plugin) - I do feel that could have been made a little more clear but thanks for letting me know.
