en fait tu ne veux pas de fond du tout ...
si tu mets une couleur et une opacité à 0.2 par exemple ça doit marcher
sinon effectivement si tu veux totalement transparent tu charges un PNG transparent comme image de fond et c'est réglé

Je sais pas si tu as lu, mais pour que la couleur soit totalement transparente, il ne faut pas régler l'opacité sur "0" mais sur "00" 
.
