Images are being overwritten ??

I have activated the setting: "Use specific images for Mobile" - and entered a value of 700 px. I have placed the main images for the slideshow in /images/slideshow and then I am placing images for mobile in /images/slideshow/700  - but every time I reload the page with the slideshow the images in the 700 folder are overwritten by a resized version of the main images !!?? I have Econa resize plugin installed - but have tried to deactivate the plugin and still the same happens. Any idea ?? is it Joomla itself doing this ??

Ahaaa - I found the problem. The setting "Create the thumbnails automatically" is doing this - but that makes no sense, as the mobile images are not thumbnails ??
