Repositioning Navigation Buttons

Is there a way to move the navigation buttons (the little circles) to the side of the slides instead of below?  Alternatively, how can I change the background color of the area containing the buttons?

to the slide ? you mean just put them a little higher, or put them vertically ?
you can add this custom css to your page or in the slideshow styles >> custom css this will move it higher and add the color
