Links do not work

The links for the slideshow no longer work after recent upgrades. I do not have a template override. I even switched to the Prostar temple and the links still did not work.

there is no link in the html code of the page, so the problem is with the PHP file, not the JS or CSS
can you please make a test with a simple new module, just use the demo data and add a link on a slide. Tell me if it works or not

That worked. May I ask why that worked. Or what is the difference?

the difference is one of the options in the module.
You can check both interface to find what. Check in the link options, and may be the advanced options >> layout
