Help making slides responsive please? was created by DavetheCat

Hello!
I'm having trouble finding out how to make the images in Slideshow CK responsive for mobiles, whilst also keeping their size when viewed on a computer. My images slides are all 600px wide x 123px high.

At present I have the Width set to 600 and height to 20.5% in Styles options, which looks fine on computer but the images are not responsive on mobiles. I read that the slides will cease to be responsive if I set the dimensions in pixels, so that explains why they are not currently responsive, but I can't see how to make the slides look OK on computer without setting dimensions.

If I leave 'Width & height" as "auto" in Styles Options, that does make the slides responsive on mobiles, but the images are really tiny when viewed on computer!

Are my images just too small? Or do I need to do something with the CSS? Or am I missing something else?

For info I'm using Slideshow CK version: 1.4.48 / Joomla 3.8.3

Any advice appreciated!

Hi Ced,
Thank you for your reply.
I set it to width = auto and height = 20.5% as suggested, and the results are:

Viewed on computer, the image slides are enlarged to much larger than 600, which means they are now too big and lose quality.
Viewed on mobile, the image sizes are fine and they are responsive, but there is a large amount of white space above and below the image.

So that hasn't helped - sorry - any more clues welcome!!

ok so
1/ the area where you put the slideshow is may be larger than 600px. If you limit this container to 600px with a max-width rule, then it shall work
2/ in responsive mode, there is min-height value in the module options. Try to give "1" here to set it to 1px to let the slideshow reduce

let me know

Hi Ced,
Apologies for the late response - been so busy, just got back to this now!
Thank you for the suggestions - you are right, the area where the slideshow is, is wider than 600px as our site width is over 600px. So...

I have changed the min-height value in the module options to '1' as suggested.
But.. I don't know where I need to go to limit the container to 600px? The slideshow is a module in the 'feature' position on our Joomla site. So where do I go to specify a 'container' max-width? Is that somewhere within the Slideshow CK options, or somewhere in Joomla? Sorry if I am being a bit dim!!!

Your further guidance would be appreciated!

please update the module
according to the release notes :
version 1.4.51 : "Improve the responsive behavior : you can now give a width in px and it is still responsive"

so try again to give 600px width and tell me
