Menu "Start Level 2" not shown on home

Hi guys

I am using accordeon menu V1.9.8 with Joomla 2.5.22

I am using the following menu structure:

top menu entry
-menu entry 1
-menu entry 2
--menu entry 2.1
--menu entry 2.2


Now I want to hide the top menu entry so my menu looks like that:
-menu entry 1
-menu entry 2
--menu entry 2.1
--menu entry 2.2

I tried with "start level 2". This is working if i navigate (with the help of aliases) to -menu entry 1 or entries below, but in home it will not show the menu anymore. Any ideas?

Strange, even with the native joomla menu it is NOT working...
Seems to be a problem with my template

try to use the forum.joomla.org to find a solution
this is not related to my module
