Got it. I had attached the TIFF files not the JPEGs and apparently the other browsers don't like that.
I've put the JPEGs on the page now.

Yes, that does make the menu look and behave nicely.
But a problem comes with it, and that was my original reason for posting, for this makes it impossible to use the menu to access anything other than the bottom tier of pages. For example, I can open up the 'Philosophical Roots' page. But I can't then access 'The Framework's Story', which gives an overview of what lies in the four pages underneath them.
What I was looking for in the menu was an accordian that could be opened and closed by +/- signs, and where all the page titles served as links to the appropriate pages.
