Active Parent Item using OnClick

Hi there
Just wondering if there was a way to make the parent menu item active when you use the 'Click' setting on Event to Open. It's works great using the 'Hover' method but need to change it to onClick.

Is this possible? I know it doesn't make sense in most cases but need it in this case.

you can use the click on image only option to redirect the link and open the submenu only by clicking on the +/- image
