How to show only active sub-menu items was created by jcdaddi
Hi,
Thank you for the beautiful Accordeon Menu modules. I downloaded the documentation but it doesn't quite answer my questions.
I would like to use AccordeonCK as a sub-menu module to show only some sub-menu items (i.e. not the full menu) on the left of my website. I tried playing with setting Start Level to 3 and End Level to ALL, but it doesn't do it. Please advise.
Here is what I want to do. As an example, on this web page:
dev.marymotherofgodschool.org/index.php/...-8-our-life-together
This page is at the 4th level of the menu tree, namely:
School -> Student Life -> JK - Grade 8 -> Our Life Together
What I want to achieve
While on this page, I am hoping to see something like what currently appears in the first sub-menu module on the left (generated using standard Joomla submenu module with Start Level: 3 and End Level: All). However, since I am currently under the JK-Grade 8 (level 3 items), I would like the menu NOT to expand the level 4 items under Grades 9-12. I am exploring Accordeon style menu to fold them up.
What I have tried
I tried 2 things with AccordeonCK.
(a) Start Level:2 and End Level:All
For demo, please see the output in the second menu module on the left.
It gives a nice full Accordeon menu, but it is not what I want. I hope that the other first and second level menu items (i.e. Home, About Us, ...,) not to show up.
(b) Start Level: 3 and End Level: All
For demo, please see the output in the third menu module on the left.
I would expect this setting (start:3 , end: all) to display what I want as described above, but it ends up displaying a flat list of all the level 3 items in the rest of the menu system.
Can the other (non-active) level 3+ menu items be hiddenÉ If not, I don`t see how the output of this setting can be useful to any menu.
Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi
if I understand, you would like to have the same menu as the first module with 2 links 'grade8' + 'grade9-12' that show the submenu in an accordion style ?
Is the first menu module the way you want to display your items ? if yes, is it the standard joomla menu ? and which settings did you apply to it ?

Hi Ced,
Thank you very much for your quick reply.
Yes, I want it to look like the first menu module on the left hand side that will show something like:
(Assuming again that I am on page:
School->Student Life->JK-Grade 8-> Our Life Together)
JK - 8 -
* Our Life Together (highlighted as being active)
* Reaching Out To Others
* Music and the Arts
* Field Trips
* Clubs
* Contests and Competitions
Grades 9-12 + (folded up by Accordion style)
I have snipped a cropped segment from the third menu module on the page (generated using AccordeonCK with Start Level 3 and End Level All) to show what I mean. It is in the attached picture. Thanks.
I am using the standard "Joomla Module Manager: Module Menu". For your information, I am using Joomla 2.5.
For Basic Options, I have:
Select Menu: "School Main Menu"
Start Level: 3
End Level: All
Show Sub-menu Items: YES
For Advanced Options, I have left it as the default, which reads:
Menu Tag ID:
Menu Class Suffix:
Target Position:
Alternative Layout: Default
Module Class Suffix:
Caching: Use Global
Cache Time: 900
Thank you very much in advance!

ok, so which version of Joomla and Accordeon menu are you using exactly ?
2.5.6 and 1.7.2 ?
if yes then you should contact me directly to give me a ftp access to check something.
