Linking to Article from Expanding/Collapsing Entry

The menu items which get assigned the [+] and [-] to expand and collapse the menu only do that... I would like that to also be able to show a specific article such as an introduction to the category being expanded.

So when clicked, it will expand the menu and then show the article assigned to that entry. I tried to assign a specific article entry to the respective menu item but it is ignored.

Consider this as a feature request.

there is an option for the target element that you can set on "image only", so that you can click on the +/- icons to expand and on the link url
