Vertical (Sub)Menu

I'm trying to create a vertical menu with submenu's (Stays open when clicked).
Accordeon Menus seems to fit. Is it possible that Template Creator determines the styles (like in the video of maximenu from the help file).
Or that Maximenu can be used vertically?
Further I have tried changing the standard menu to go vertical, (also in joomla) but dont get it. for example if I use accordeon menu below



I will get a horizontal menu.

maximenu is not an accordeon menu, use accordeon menu ck instead
it should also work, but then don't use a horizontal menu block into template creator. Just use a normal module
