Google analytics

Here in the last release we can read: "added option to load a google analytics code"

What does it mean exactly ?
Don't we need an Extension plugin anymore ?
Where can we find more informations on how to use this new feature ?

No you don't need any plugin anymore, just fill the param with your analytics code and the google code will be added to your template

Does it load the Google Analytics code asynchronously ?
(allowing for the rest of site to load while the analytics code loads in the background increasing the loading speed of site)

Yes it should be asynchronous, it is the native code given by google
and yes it can be multisite if in each template you give the correct code
