Dropdown menu not working on hover

Dropdown menus are not showing child items when the parent is on hover. They only show when the parent is active. How do I correct this behavior?

go in the joomla menu module and activate the option "always show the submenu"

:blush: Can't believe I missed that after all these years using Joomla! The templates I have previously purchased and modified all had built in horizontal menues and I never had to use this. Thanks very much.
