I have a client who wants "lots of empty space" left and right of the main content area. Easy if she's just referring to desktops, but she wants the same for a laptop (which would normally end up filling the entire screen), Fortunately, filling the screen on a tablet or phone is OK!! 
Given that some laptops can have a 1024px width, I can't just use a fixed width like normal. Is it possible to put in a percentage width or something along those lines to keep her happy?

nothing stops it 
if you want you can add your own css in the custom css area in the repsonsive popup, or in custom css (parameters)
