Maximenu and active menu item

Implementing Template Creator and Maximenu CK on a website.
A hovered menu item on the first level gets a gray border above. An active menu item on the first level gets a dark gray border above. See image.

When I activate the Maximenu CK menu on this menuposition and I choose an item underneath one of the first level items, then this first level item does not get the active status (HOME is still active). See second part of the enclosed image.
When I deactivate Maximenu and activate the standard menusystem of Template Creator itself, then things do work as expected: this first level item gets the active status. See the third part of the enclosed image.

I of course want Maximenu to work OK / the same way as the normal function of Template Creator itself. Is this something I can set myself, or is this a bug in Maximenu that you can fix?

the active state shall work the same in maximenu. Check if you have use the "base item" option in the module, set it to "current"
