Maximenu in Position-1 Doesn't Appear Correctly

I'm new to Maximenu so apologize in advance if these questions are basic. I'm hoping these are simple fixes.

I installed Maximenu to replace the standard menu present in the Beez20 template. I had the Beez20 menu in Position-1, right below the banner. When I put Maximenu in the same position, it's pushed down into the article content (see screenshot). How can I get it into Position-1?

look at the styles options,you have a field "template layer compatibility" where you must choose the beez20_position1. But in beez20 the menu is by default at the top of the banner, not the bottom so I imagine that you have already made some changes in the template ...

Ced, thanks for the heads-up. That field is already set to beez20_position1. Is there something else that could be causing the problem?

yes if you have made some changes in the template.
as said what you have marked in red in your image is not the default position of the menu in beez20
use firebug to help you debugging
