Remove black "slide-in" effect on mouseover

Hi

When I mouse over a menu item, a black box slides in from the left to mark the item I hover over.

This looks great, but it doesn't fit my design...

How do I remove it?
I can only seem to find the text color, nothing about the background at hover...
