Hello,

on an iPad, as soon as an item is a parent (first or second level), this item is not selectable any more as a page, I mean it shows the children items, but it is not possible to get to the page of this menu item.

Is that an error in my settings or it this normal ?

On a regular PC/Mac, a parent item is selectable like any other items.
On a Smartphone with the mobile menu, it works as well as expected. Just with the iPad I have this problem.

Hi
this is normal as there is no "mouseover" action on touch device
if you want to have a more mobile advanced menu, you shall consider using the maximenu mobile plugin

Hi Cédric,

thank your fast reply. Actually, I always use the mobile plugin. Until now I used the default detection type "resolution". of course, if I use detection type "tablet an phone" this problem is gone!

cheers, Pierre

Hi,
I have the same problem (main items on tablet not clickable) but have no option to choose mobile instead of resolution. Do I need the params Plugin? (I have maximenu and mobileplugin already)

Thanks und best regards,
Vera

With the default Joomla menu it does work. I use :focus in addition to :hover. I guess this is possible in Maximenu to?

Could you tell us how to do this? I prefer the 'normal' menu op tablets since the visitors can see the menu-items right away.

you don't need to post twice ;)
When I use the default Joomla menu module I use : focus in addition to :hover and that works on tablets. So with the default menu module it is possible to make the parent item active. So there must be another reason why Maximenu doesn't work this way. It's not a tablet issue but a Maximenu issue.

Do you have a live example of the behavior that you are enjoying with the default menu ?
How does it work then ?
By my side I have a one finger which touch the screen, according to this action the menu opens or closes
I don't have any :hover state with my finger on a touch device

So could you explain a bit more about your solution ? :)

There isn't much to explain, I use the default Joomla menu-module on amsterdamsespinozakring.nl/ (the same project I'm creating a new website for). When I click a parent item (f.i. spinozadag) and the page opens. When my finger is on the link without clicking it the sub-items open because of the a:focus.

I'm checking your website, but how do you do with a touch device to "When my finger is on the link without clicking it"

by my side, I have to touch the screen with my finger to get an action. It does not detect that my finger is over the screen

every time I touch the "spinozadag" item, it loads the page and the submenu is only shown a short time before the page has been reloaded

by my side this can not be used to go in the submenu

There is a difference between touch and click. For touch you use :hover on desk- and laptop and :focus on handhelds. If you only touch the parent it will not open the page but the submenu. It only opens when you click. Does this works different on your tablet? Which tablet are you using? I only have an iPad, no Android tablet.
