Bonjour Mr CEd
Back again with a (hopefully) final update to my hidden slideshow problem.
I found a discrepancy between Firefox and Chrome with regards to the div:
<div class="camera_commands" >
Firefox looked like this:
<div class="camera_commands" style="opacity="0"">
<div class="camera_play" style="display:none">
</div>
Chrome looked like this:
<div class="camera_commands">
<span></span>
The prev and next divs both looked the same in both browsers.
I followed the advise on the Chrome site and looked at the site in Incognito mode...
It looked fine, the slideshow displayed and worked.
I turned off all the extensions ( some color pickers, a ruler , a language translator and a couple of other things) ...
and the slideshow worked in normal mode, too.
I then turned ON all the extensions... it still works.
I cleared the cache.... it still works..
I restarted the computer....
AND IT STILL WORKS!
I have no idea what is going on.
All I know is that by turning the extension off and then on again solved the problem.
All the best
Jon

Yep, and my work's computer
Just to be clear for anyone else reading this: it was the Chrome extensions, not Joomla...
I am pretty sure I did the extension 'off and on' routine before but with no luck.
Fingers crossed.
Have good day
