TOPIC: JCE Editor

JCE Editor 28 Nov 2016 18:56 #39037

I was so happy to see JCE showing up again in PB. Unfortunately, with the new version of JCE that came out this morning, the "Code" button has disappeared and it's impossible to be able to open up a raw code window.

Hi
you shall understand that I can not control the way the different editors are working
it works with tiny, why not in JCE or others ?
they manage things differently

you should better ask the JCE developper to help on this because I can not do anything regarding the way it is loaded

I understand completely Ced. Just thought I'd let you know that's a;;! ;)

I can only imagine Ced and I feel for you. Sorry, I should have written my post a little differently so you understood it was just an FYI, not a "FIX IT NOW!!" request! :P I appreciate your hard work on your products. JoomlaCK represents the largest group of products I use and I'm really happy with them. Actually just bought the Beautiful CK module over the weekend. Love the styling it offers.

The issue with the code editor is that JCE have now gone away from the "Toggle Editor" link & now have 3 tabs which appear to the right of the edit screen (see attachment).

Cheers

of course, this is just a discussion where I explain my point of view :)
this is nothing against you, just that I would be happy if it would work without problem. I have no problem with what you have written in your post and I agree with you

cool for Beautiful CK ! I have loved to work on this project

I have seen the changes for JCE2.6 and I also had to update the Mediabox CK button to fix a new JS issue

PS : I'm angry because these problems about the editors are against efficiency. I can not ask the editors developpers to fix this because this is also dependant to the way I load them (on the fly) but it works great with Tinymce and people don't want to use Tinymce ... argh

When there are editor problems, I am not far away ;).

The problem is that TinyMCE lacks some features that JCE has. For example the link manager with the ability to link directly to a menu item without copy/pasting a hard URL. Also the image manager of JCE is fine and a must-have for customers who do not want to edit every image in Photoshop before uploading it.

A special problem with JCE is the weak support of the developer, though. :/
Still I have no answer on my question on the editor buttons that are not loading in many components. :-/

I have seen the new 2.6 of JCE, a shame that the editor buttons are not improved :(

Besides a facelifting, the editor contains many bugs. There are no really NEW options to the JCE since a couple of years. Unfortunately it seems like feature requests are not considered anymore.

A stupid question: Wouldn't it be possible to call the editor buttons as plugins in the pagebuilder? For example I am missing dropfiles and droppics, which I use a lot!

Cheers,
Tim
