and try to insert space between the triangle and the right edge of the menu.

in the styling interface you will get a "parent item" tab, where you can set a padding right to give the place for the arrow
there is also a tab for the "parent icon", which is the arrow. You can move it using the field (top, left ...)

the first part is solved (I managed to distance the arrow from the manu entry).
but I am unable to give space to the right of the arrow.
I tried with "parent icon" and tried "margin" and "position" in all ways but with none the arrow creates a space to its right.

as explained you must give a "padding right" on "parent menu link". See my previous screenshot where I have set a 30px value
