I found it! Added the module as below.
Is there now a way to tweak the position and add a text like in the upper left search box ("Search...")?

But if I unpublish the original search box in the upper left, I get an error on the menu bar where the search box was; "Module ID=180 not found".
I need to tweak things here...

you must publish the module in no position, or in a position that does not exists in your template

Ah, now I get it...
The search box is added with the same padding with respect to the upper menu bar border as the other menu items.
Since some of my root menus have sub-menus, there will be a an arrow below and therefore a space below the menu items that do not have any sub-menus.
