Hi. I have created a new Joomla template using Bootstrap 4.x which is currently running on Joomla 3.9.1.

In order to use Bootstrap 4.x I have to load the latest jquery.min.js which is version jquery-3.3.1.min.js. Joomla 3x uses the very old v1.12.4 and which Slideshow CK is also using.

When I query my site with yellowlab.tools I get a D rating for jquery because 2 jquery files are being loaded. If I unset this v1.12.4, Slideshow CK does not load.

Is there any way around this or do we just have to wait for Joomla 4?

Thanks for responding so quickly.

I have unset the jquery on this page
Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.
which is my development site for the domain. The slideshow should appear between the menu and the welcome message.

You can see it with the original code on the 'real' domain here:

Thank you.

the problem is the one I was thinking about ... your jquery is in the wrong place !
it is loaded at the bottom of the page after all other scripts, but it must be loaded first, before other scripts

Hm. Thanks for your reply. I was, in fact, following the instructions from getbootstrap.com which explicitly says to place the scripts at the end of the file just before the closing body tag.

See here: getbootstrap.com/docs/4.1/getting-started/introduction#js

yes, if you are using a standard or home made website, in your case you are using Joomla!. Most scripts are loading in the head and you must take care about that.
There are some plugins like "jquery easy" that could help you if you are not able to do it yourself

Thank you. I have moved the script into the top of the head and Slideshow CK is now loading.
